Summer Credit Recovery

TWO and they must have been failed during this past two years. If you have another to take- that was prior to the 2021-2022 school year, it can be registered through the parent/guardian by following the parent/guardian registration directions in the brochure. Only 2 courses a summer are permitted for credit recovery.

Monday through Friday 8am-4pm in your child’s home school building with the main office secretaries. Note that the school district is CLOSED on Monday June 19^th and Tuesday July 4^th due to federal holidays.

Families may register any time from June 1^st to PRIOR to the end of the work day Wednesday, July 12^th. There will be no late registrations accepted as the registration period closes promptly.

Please indicate that on the contract and the AIU/Waterfront Learning will request the IEP documents so they may make the accommodations and modifications on the course.

The courses are approximately 60 hrs long and students should dedicate no less that 15 hours per week to the course. Students have 4 weeks from the enrollment date/enrollment confirmation to complete the course, not when you register. The clock does not start ticking until your course is actually enrolled and you receive the confirmation email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis, not when you sign up in the main office. Only one course may be taken at a time so if you have two courses to take, after the first one is complete, the second will be loaded for enrollment by the AIU/WFL.

If your child does not complete or pass the course with a 60% or better the cost of the course becomes a cost to the family at $275.00 per course. The district will not pay for failed courses.

There will be an email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis with the login information and a welcome. Please check your email and junk/spam folders for the email. The emails you provide on the contract are the ones in the system. DEVICES ARE NOT PROVIDED FOR USE to complete the course(s)

No, they are not.

Beginning on the first day of enrollment, the student should log-in to Geniussis to access their course. All instruction is delivered online, and all assignments and assessments are submitted online. Depending on the vendor, the lessons will include a variety of activities to deliver the instruction and assessments including, reading assignments, videos, short answer response, vocabulary, labs, and quizzes/tests. Students have a content teacher  to support them through their course, and they should never hesitate to reach out to their teachers or WFLHelp@aiu3.net if they have questions along the way. Unless otherwise noted, curriculum requirements are built into the system.  

Parents can have access through Geniussis to monitor progress.  Parents and students can also email or call their teacher for more information.

Waterfront Learning’s summer session must take place during the defined terms. Waterfront is unable to grant a pause or temporary stoppage of courses to accommodate vacations, camps, or other student activities.  Given that students can access their courses from most locations with Internet capabilities, we suggest completing while traveling or obtaining permission for an extension.  If extension is requested, extension fees will apply.

You will have received a failure notice with the courses listed from your child’s SCHOOL COUNSELOR. This is how you will determine what needs taken. Summer school staff will not know about your son’s/daughter credit needs. Credit recovery needs are addressed with your school counselor. Counselor emails and phone numbers are on the website and in the brochure, if they cannot be reached, please reach out to your building principals.
