Summer school /credit recovery is completely online. Families may register their child at their home school for TWO district paid credit recovery courses through the AIU/Waterfront Learning. This is for any CORE courses failed or HS Phys/Ed and HS Health in the past two years. To register for this district paid credit recovery course Parent/Guardian and student MUST report to the student’s home school and complete the Summer School Credit Recovery Contract. Please note that any district paid summer course not completed or failed (passing is 60% or better) will require reimbursement from the family. The cost is $275 dollars per course.
*For those courses that were failed PRIOR to the 2021-2022 school year and you would like to pay for the additional course failed prior to 2021: This brochure information is also posted on the school district’s website on each school’s page. These courses are parent registration and parent pay. The list of approved credit recovery courses are in the brochure. Only two total credit recovery courses may be taken each summer.
TWO and they must have been failed during this past two years. If you have another to take- that was prior to the 2021-2022 school year, it can be registered through the parent/guardian by following the parent/guardian registration directions in the brochure. Only 2 courses a summer are permitted for credit recovery.
Monday through Friday 8am-4pm in your child’s home school building with the main office secretaries. Note that the school district is CLOSED on Monday June 19th and Tuesday July 4th due to federal holidays.
The courses are approximately 60 hrs long and students should dedicate no less that 15 hours per week to the course. Students have 4 weeks from the enrollment date/enrollment confirmation to complete the course, not when you register. The clock does not start ticking until your course is actually enrolled and you receive the confirmation email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis, not when you sign up in the main office. Only one course may be taken at a time so if you have two courses to take, after the first one is complete, the second will be loaded for enrollment by the AIU/WFL.
There will be an email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis with the login information and a welcome. Please check your email and junk/spam folders for the email. The emails you provide on the contract are the ones in the system. DEVICES ARE NOT PROVIDED FOR USE to complete the course(s)
Beginning on the first day of enrollment, the student should log-in to Geniussis to access their course. All instruction is delivered online, and all assignments and assessments are submitted online. Depending on the vendor, the lessons will include a variety of activities to deliver the instruction and assessments including, reading assignments, videos, short answer response, vocabulary, labs, and quizzes/tests. Students have a content teacher to support them through their course, and they should never hesitate to reach out to their teachers or WFLHelp@aiu3.net if they have questions along the way. Unless otherwise noted, curriculum requirements are built into the system.
Waterfront Learning’s summer session must take place during the defined terms. Waterfront is unable to grant a pause or temporary stoppage of courses to accommodate vacations, camps, or other student activities. Given that students can access their courses from most locations with Internet capabilities, we suggest completing while traveling or obtaining permission for an extension. If extension is requested, extension fees will apply.
You will have received a failure notice with the courses listed from your child’s SCHOOL COUNSELOR. This is how you will determine what needs taken. Summer school staff will not know about your son’s/daughter credit needs. Credit recovery needs are addressed with your school counselor. Counselor emails and phone numbers are on the website and in the brochure, if they cannot be reached, please reach out to your building principals.
The LMS PTA is excited to invite students to the upcoming Scholastic Book Fair! We are excited to have our first Scholastic Book Fair of this school year to give students the opportunity to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. I hope you are well. As I'm sure you are already aware, earlier this summer district superintendent Dr. Nancy Hines announced her retirement effective October 2023. As a result, the Penn Hills Board of School Directors has contracted with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) to search for a new superintendent. This process is already underway.
The Linton Middle School PTA is looking for new members to join its team! We are a group of parents, teachers, and community members who work together to support our school and its students. We organize events, raise funds, and advocate for our school's needs.
