Summer Credit Recovery

Anytime online from June 1 to July 11th, 2024.

Families may register online any time from June 1^st to July 11th, 2024.

Please indicate that when you register and the AIU/Waterfront Learning will request the IEP documents from the district so they may make the accommodations and modifications on the course as per the IEP.

The courses are approximately 60 hrs long and students should dedicate no less that 15 hours per week to the course. Students have 4 weeks from the enrollment date/enrollment confirmation email to complete the course. The start date is not when you register. The clock does not start ticking until your course is paid and actually enrolled and you receive the confirmation email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis.

If your child does not complete or pass the course with a 60% minimum grade, the credit will not be added to the student's transcript.

If your child needs an extension, that is at the cost to the parent and is listed in the brochure.

There will be an email from the AIU/Waterfront Geniussis with the login information and a welcome notice. Please check your email and junk/spam folders for the email. The emails you provide when you register are the ones that will receive the information.

Beginning on the first day of enrollment, the student should log-in to Geniussis to access their course. All instruction is delivered online, and all assignments and assessments are submitted online. Depending on the vendor, the lessons will include a variety of activities to deliver the instruction and assessments including, reading assignments, videos, short answer response, vocabulary, labs, and quizzes/tests. Students have a content teacher to support them through their course, and they should never hesitate to reach out to their teachers or WFLHelp@aiu3.net if they have questions along the way. Unless otherwise noted, curriculum requirements are built into the system.

Parents can have access through Geniussis to monitor progress.

Parents and students can also email or call their Waterfront Learning teacher for more information. The teachers are NOT Penn Hills teachers so please do not reach out to their regularly scheduled classroom teachers from the school year.

Waterfront Learning’s session must take place during the defined terms. Waterfront is unable to grant a pause or temporary stoppage of courses to accommodate vacations, or other student activities. Given that students can access their courses from most locations with Internet capabilities, we suggest completing while traveling or obtaining permission for an extension. If extension is requested, extension fees will apply to the parent.

You will have received a failure letter with the course(s) listed from your child’s SCHOOL COUNSELOR as well as a phone call or email. This is how you will determine what needs taken in summer school. Waterfront Learning staff will not know about your son’s/daughter credit needs. Credit recovery needs are addressed with your school counselor. If you cannot reach your school counselor due to summer break, reach out to your building principal.
