Student Device Insurance

The Penn Hills School District’s Annual Tech Fee Program is a mandatory, non-refundable fee of $15 per year designed to minimize and reduce future repair and replacement costs for district-owned devices. Please note that this program does not cover devices that are lost or stolen.

If your child is enrolled in the Annual Tech Fee Program and damages or breaks an iPad or Chromebook, the following fee schedule will apply:

  • First Repair/Replacement: No charge to the family
  • Second Repair/Replacement: $25 fee
  • Third Repair/Replacement: Full cost of the device or repair

Please note that if damages are determined to be the result of intentional actions or willful neglect, the parent or guardian will be billed for the full replacement cost of the device regardless of program participation.

  • Dell 3100 / Lenovo 100e
  • iPad
  • Microsoft Surface Go

Component Repair/Replacement Costs:

  • MaxCase: $30
  • Touch Screen: $200
  • Charger: $25
  • Stylus Pen: $30
  • Keyboard: $85
  • Full Replacement: $400

The Yearly Technology Fee, which is MANDATORY, covers unintentional damage to the student's device. The first incidence is not subject to a deductible. The deductible for the second incidence is $25. Three or more incidents per year result in the entire cost of repair or replacement being charged to the family. The yearly Technology Fee does not cover devices that are lost or stolen. Families who do not participate in the MANDATORY Yearly Technology Fee program will be charged the full cost of the repair or replacement.
