Free Summer Meals Available for Kids
Lydia Richardson
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) helps make sure kids stay healthy and fed during the summer, even when school is out. Through the SUN Programs, approved locations in communities across the country offer free meals to children and teens ages 18 and under.
Families can use the USDA Summer Meals Site Finder to find free meal sites near them. The tool provides directions, hours of operation, and contact information for each location.
If you need help finding food for your child, you can also call the USDA National Hunger Hotline:
- English: 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479)
- Spanish: 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273)
The hotline is open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Eastern Time).
