This school year has brought challenges, but also moments of connection and care. Today, Penn Hills High School welcomed two special visitors—Gordie and Fergus, therapy dogs from HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis Response (AACR).
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to spend time with these gentle companions during lunch periods and study hall. Whether through wagging a tail or simply sitting quietly by their side, Gordie and Fergus provided a sense of calm and comfort to every student they met.
For many students, the presence of therapy dogs offered a much-needed break and reminder that support comes in many forms.
HOPE AACR specializes in bringing trained therapy dogs to schools, hospitals, and other spaces were emotional support is needed. Their visit to Penn Hills High School reflects the district's commitment to student well-being, ensuring that even in difficult times, there are resources available to help.
