At Penn Hills, "PHamily" isn't just a motto, it's a core value. This year, for the Class of 2025, that spirit takes on a special meaning for valedictorian Todd Bishop and salutatorian Kitt Bishop. They aren't just classmates or friends—they're twins.
Todd and Kitt have been part of the Penn Hills School District since kindergarten. From their very first day to the days leading up to graduation, they've supported each other every step of the way. Their success comes as no surprise to those who know them; it's the result of steady commitment, hard work, and a shared belief in what's possible when you put in the effort.
Though their interests sometimes took them in different directions, their goals and values always aligned. Todd especially enjoyed Mr. Hack's calculus class and Mr. Willy's AP World History course. Outside the classroom, he played on the high school basketball team for three years.
Kitt excelled in Mrs. Patton's AP Chemistry and appreciated the science courses that offered hands-on experience, such as biology and anatomy. Through her anatomy class, Kitt witnessed an open-heart surgery, and in her junior year, she earned the prestigious Women in Science Day Award for Excellence in Science and Math from Seton Hill University. Beyond academics, Kitt took part in the honors choir, the spring musicals, and the superintendent advisory council.
Though their academic paths were different, their approach was similar. They held each other accountable, studied together, and pushed each other. "It was never about being better than her," Todd said. "It was about becoming the best version of myself, with someone beside me doing the same."
After graduation, both Todd and Kitt will attend the University of Michigan. Todd plans to study electrical engineering, while Kitt will pursue biology on a pre-med track. While it wasn't necessarily planned for them to stay together beyond high school, the decision just felt right.
As they leave Penn Hills, they carry more than just their diplomas. They carry gratitude for the teachers who inspired them, the peers who supported them, and the district that helped shape who they are.
Todd and Kitt look forward to meeting new people, tackling tougher academic material, and growing beyond the familiar. But no matter where life takes them, they'll always carry the lessons they gained from their time at Penn Hills.
