Penn Hills School District Announces Dr. Bernard Taylor, Jr. as New High School Principal
At a public voting meeting on June 25, the Penn Hills School District Board of School Directors named Dr. Bernard Taylor, Jr. as its new high school principal.
June 25, 2024 – Penn Hills – At a public voting meeting on June 25, the Penn Hills School District Board of School Directors named Dr. Bernard Taylor, Jr. as its new high school principal.
With more than 36 years of experience in education, Dr. Taylor currently serves as the principal of Oliver Citywide Academy (OCA). Throughout his tenure, he has developed curriculum across several subjects, provided emotional support to students and engaged diverse student populations.
During his career, Dr. Taylor has served as a superintendent, assistant principal, instructional teacher lead, and high school social studies teacher. Dr. Taylor emphasized the importance of fostering a positive school culture that values collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
“I am honored and thankful to the Penn Hills School District for allowing me the opportunity to lead the next generation of high school students,” Dr. Taylor said. “I look forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of Penn Hills High School.”
Dr. Taylor earned his doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1995. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Penn Hills School District superintendent, Dr. John Mozzocio, shared, “I am elated to welcome another administrator to our team who values the same principles as the Penn Hills School District. Dr. Taylor’s experience and dedication to education will undoubtedly benefit both our students and community.”
