Seven Student Leaders Heading to the Annual Youth Summit on March 8th
Following the tragic 2018 shooting and death of Antwaan Rose, Woodland Hills teacher Mrs. Erin Wall envisioned an annual Youth Summit. Her aim was to foster collaboration among high school students nationwide, enabling them to create and deliver youth workshops on vital topics such as gun violence, police relations, social justice, and effecting positive change. This idea has materialized, and Penn Hills will be participating in the Youth Summit for the second year in a row.
This year, we're proud to send seven exceptional student leaders - Kristin Hopkins, De'Asia Austin-Wilson, Brice Peeler, Maya Burley, Monica Montgomery, Mikiya Dixon, and Damiana Hopkins, along with Mr. Kilcrease. They're actively collaborating with leaders from 15 other schools to plan the summit scheduled for Friday, March 8th. In addition to our student leaders, Penn Hills will also send an additional 30 students to the event.
On Monday, October 9th, the student leaders engaged in a meet and greet at Chatham University. Student Brice Peeler was interviewed, and you can find the video link below. Please help to encourage these students and their leadership as they walk through this process.
