Now Accepting Applications for City of Pittsburgh's Student Police Academy
This free, 10-week program is open to all high school students in grades 9-12, whether they attend public, private, parochial, charter, or cyber school, or are homeschooled - both inside and outside the City of Pittsburgh. The registration deadline to apply is Friday, February 28, 2025. Classes begin on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Point Park University and will meet once a week for 1.5 hours, running through Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Students in the academy will receive hands-on training similar to police cadets, gaining insight into law enforcement, policy, and decision-making. They will also have the unique opportunity to engage with officers from various divisions including K-9, SWAT, Bomb Squad, and Vice & Narcotics, helping build positive connections between teens and law enforcement. Additionally, the program provides valuable exposure to potential careers in criminal justice and first responder fields.
All interested students must complete the online application.
