The mission of the Health Services Department is to facilitate each student's growth, development, and educational success by encouraging his or her health and wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment. 

"School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that enhances the well-being, academic performance, and lifetime achievement of children," according to the National Association of School Nurses. 

Penn Hills School Nurses help students learn by implementing the following: 

  • providing assistance and coordination of treatment for children with chronic health issues 
  • actively partnering with faculty/staff/parents/community providers to promote student wellbeing; becoming active members of student support/assistant teams; diagnosing and treating day-to-day illnesses and injuries that occur during school hours 
  • completing health checks as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health assessing and monitoring all children's vaccines 
  • providing students and workers with health education and wellness programs offering nurse services as required creating a secure and healthy environment for students/employees

PHamily Fun Fest save the date Flyer

Join us for our 4th Annual PHamily Fun Fest on Saturday, August 16, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Penn Hills High School - a fun-filled, back-to-school celebration for students, families, and the entire community! 

Extended School Year (ESY) Begins Monday, June 23

ESY services for students who qualify through their IEP will begin on Monday, June 23, 2025, and run Monday through Thursday to support continued learning and skill development over the summer.
