School Board

The Penn Hills School District Board of School Directors establishes policies, rules, and procedures for the Board's governance and the safe and orderly operation of the Penn Hills School District in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

As the agency in charge of Penn Hills School District students' education, the Board directs the development of a planned learning program that meets the needs of all students while adhering to state and national standards. The Board recognizes its responsibility to provide a comprehensive educational program in our school community that is compatible with each child's mental and physical potential.

The goal of education in this district's schools is to help each student reach his or her full potential. Education guides students through the learning processes so that they can become personally effective in a changing society. To that end, the Penn Hills School District exists to provide students with learning and development opportunities. Every employee has equity in the learning process and must consider how much they contribute to creating a safe, secure, healthy, and challenging learning environment. Curriculum and instruction are critical to our operations because the primary function of schools is to provide learning.

The Board's philosophy is to assist each student in developing their distinct abilities. Curriculum opportunities that push each student's abilities must be made available. By providing adaptations and enrichment, the curriculum should take into account students' interests, needs, and learning styles.

School Board voting meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM at Penn Hills Elementary School, 1079 Jefferson Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235, unless otherwise advertised. For the most up-to-date schedule, go to the District calendar on this website.
