Create a Parent Observer Account
Families can view their student's course content and progress by creating a Canvas Observer Account. If you have multiple students, you can link all your students under a single Observer account.
Get Started
- First, your student must log in to Canvas on a computer (not a mobile device) and generate a pairing code. View a tutorial of how to generate a code for a parent observer account.
- The student must be enrolled in courses before you can sign up to observe the student. (Wait until after the first day of school.)
- Once you have the pairing code, you can create your account. Go to https://phsd.instructure.com/login/canvas and click the link Click Here for an Account.
- When using the Parent App (iOS and Android), search for Penn Hills School District

Access the Qmlativ Login Page:
- Click here to go to the Qmlativ login page.
Reset Username/Password:
- Below the Sign In button, click the "Forgot username/password" link.
- Enter the email address used at registration and click Submit.
Check Your Email:
- You will receive an email with your username and a link to reset your password.
Log In:
- Use the provided username and updated password to log into Qmlativ.
If you successfully gained access, you’re all set! If not, proceed to filling out Request Qmlativ Access Form.

A Skyward (Qmlativ) mobile application is available for both Apple and Android devices through the App Store or Google Play.
Police Tip Hotline
The Penn Hills Police Department encourages residents and visitors of the municipality to report suspicious activity to us. If you believe you’ve witnessed something that may involve criminal activity, we’d like to hear about it. You aren’t required to leave your name or contact information if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. Please explain the activity in as much detail as possible, as it aids our officers when investigating your reports.
This form is not intended for users to report serious criminal activity or emergencies that are actively occurring. If you witness a serious crime in progress, or some other emergency, please call 911 to report it. Remember, “If You See Something, Say Something™.” Failing to report suspicious activity often leads criminals to believe that they can operate freely in our neighborhoods. With your partnership, let’s work together to deter crime in Penn Hills.
